4Mt. Kenya Hub will host the 5th Edition of Mt. Kenya Innovation Week; a regional event established in 2021 to promote inclusive innovation, entrepreneurship, and technological advancement. This year’s theme, “Emerging Technologies as Catalysts for Climate Action, Job Creation, and AI Adoption,” aligns with Kenya Vision 2030, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the African Union’s Agenda 2063. The theme positions AI, IoT, data, and clean technologies as essential to unlocking solutions for jobs, sustainability, and community development.
This culinary challenge will focus on creating plant-based dishes using selected recipes. Participants will compete to innovate in the space of sustainable food practices, exploring new flavors and ways of cooking that align with climate action and health goals.
1Artisans and creatives will showcase their skills through a drawing competition aimed at celebrating art as an integral component of the innovation ecosystem. This hackathon promotes design thinking and the role of artisans in digital innovation.
3This signature event is a 48-hour nonstop hackathon where tech enthusiasts and innovators will focus on developing digital solutions that address the challenges of creating digital jobs, smart agriculture, and climate action. Participants will work collaboratively to build MVPs (Minimum Viable Products) that have the potential to transform communities and contribute to the clean economy.

He has previously served as the Group Executive Director of Regulatory and Government Affairs for the Africa Region at MultiChoice Africa Holdings, based in Dubai, UAE.

Kevin Atibu is the Deputy Director Innovation and Incubation at ICT Authority. He heads the department charged with crowd-sourcing viable ideas and start-ups that leverage on technology to address challenges in government and the public arena whilst creating employment for the youth. The viable innovations are then provided with technical assistance to grow and scale into commercially viable products and services. Prior to joining ICT Authority, Kevin was the Technical Services Lead at Kenya Bankers Association, where he planned, managed and coordinated strategic projects for the banking industry, including the implementation and management of an innovation framework for the banking industry through which fin-tech ideas were harnessed and incubated. Kevin was instrumental in the design and implementation of an inter-bank payment switch (Pesalink), the first in East Africa, through which bank customers can conduct real-time electronic money transfers. Kevin has over 16 years of technical and management experience having worked at reputable companies including NCBA bank, Stanbic bank and Kenya Airways where he supported the organizations leverage technology to provide their customers with cutting-edge products and services. He has vast hands-on experience in the deployment of transformational technologies cutting across multiple functions within an organization. Kevin also served in the government’s National COVID-19 ICT Advisory which coordinated ICT specific responses to the effects of the pandemic. He was also a member Kenya Digital Economy Strategy Task Force. He graduated with honors in Management Information Systems from Daystar University and holds a master’s degree in Project management and Planning from the University of Nairobi. Anne Nderitu is an Aeronautical Engineer (Hons) and a drone expert. She was part of the first cohort of the African Drone and Data Academy where she graduated with a Trusted Level Operator (TOP) level 2, Certificate of Drone Technology (from Virginia Tech) and Remote Pilot License. She is the first female fixed -wing drone pilot in Kenya Anne has worked on various drone projects including Cholera Hyper-surveillance project to predict and mitigate outbreaks in Kenya. Anne is also an entrepreneur and promotes gender equality in the society. Through her foundation, The Girls Boardroom, she mentors girls and ladies to take opportunities and grow their careers. This progress demonstrates how the Innovation Week has become a grassroots platform for innovation and entrepreneurship, equipping participants with the skills, tools, and networks to grow and scale their ideas. This year’s edition introduces three diverse hackathons, industrial visits, exhibitions, panel discussions, and awards to celebrate and accelerate digital transformation, job creation, and climate resilience.

The training will focus on plant-based dairy, eggs, and baking. You will learn innovative and sustainable culinary practices focused on plant-based products. Participants will be equipped with modern skills on plant based dairy & baking culinary. Due to limited spots, only 20 participants will be selected, and priority will be given on a rolling basis.
